Woodward cattle auction report

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 5,482 head Dec. 8, compared to 1,421 head last week and 685 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 higher. There was no recent test on feeder heifers to test trends, but a higher undertone was noted. Compared to last market test of three weeks ago, steer and heifer calves were steady to $4 higher. Demand was good for all classes. Weigh-ups were average to full. Quality was average to plain. The supply was comprised of 46% steers, 47% heifers with 68% over 600 pounds.
