Tulsa livestock sales reportThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,887 head Dec. 18, compared to 3,358 head last week and 1,947 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steer calves were steady. Feeder steers were $2 to $3 lower. Heifer calves were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Quality was plain to average. Weigh-ups were average. Calves were in fleshy conditions. There was active trade on better cattle and a good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 40% steers, 44% heifers, 15% bulls, with 14% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady. Demand improved for bred cows. A total of 530 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.
