Tulia livestock auction reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,944 head Dec. 18, compared to 2,629 head last week and 1,758 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds were $2 to $3 lower on limited numbers, over 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 92%, and slaughter cows and bulls 8% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 73% of the run, heifers 27%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 73%.
