St. Onge livestock salesThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,672 head Dec. 15, compared to 3,578 head last week and 1,758 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold $1 to $3 higher. Feeder cows sold steady to $2 lower with quality less attractive than last week. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to $1 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder receipts included 45% steers and 55% heifers, with 33% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 45% feeders, 48% replacement females, 6% slaughter cows and bulls, with balance bred cows and other miscellaneous cattle. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 356 to 358 lbs., 127.00 to 136.00 (132.72); 9 head, 433 lbs., 126.00; 16 head, 478 lbs., 122.00; 523 to 546 lbs., 106.50 to 107.50 (107.10); 26 head, 506 lbs., 122.00 value added; 553 to 588 lbs., 103.50 to 110.00 (106.90); 617 to 631 lbs., 101.00 to 109.50 (107.07) calves; 655 to 671 lbs., 99.00 to 104.25 (103.10) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 574 lbs., 98.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 357 lbs., 111.50; 19 head, 446 lbs., 111.00; 16 head, 448 lbs., 117.50 value added; 458 to 493 lbs., 104.50 to 106.50 (106.27); 507 to 546 lbs., 97.00 to 105.00 (101.86); 505 to 519 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00 (112.46) replacement; 555 to 586 lbs., 96.25 to 104.50 (102.28); 605 to 638 lbs., 94.25 to 100.00 (95.74) calves. Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 790 to 1100 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Heiferettes, 960 to 1250 lbs., 60.25 to 75.00. Feeder cows, Large frame 1, 1400 to 1745 lbs., 40.00 to 46.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 830 to 1350 lbs., young 52.00 to 58.00; middle aged 40.50 to 48.00; aged 35.00 to 39.50. Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1, bred black-red whiteface, calve spring, price per head, 5 head, short solid broken, 1208 lbs., black 585.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1350 to 1700 lbs., 41.50 to 41.75; low dressing, 36.00 to 38.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1450 lbs., 41.00 to 43.00; low dressing, 38.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 36.50 to 38.00; low dressing, 31.50 to 32.50.
