Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Rancher Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., Dec. 14, reported receipts of 4,828 head, compared to 4,115 head last week and 4,821 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers at 400 to 600 pounds were steady to weak, 600 to 800 pounds were steady to firm, and 800 to 1000 pounds were $1.50 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers at 350 to 700 pounds were $1.50 to $3 higher, and 700 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 78% 600 lbs., and over, 21% 600 lbs., and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers.
