Lexington livestock sales

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., Dec. 15, reported receipts of 2,550 head, compared to 2,300 head last week and 1,800 head last years, according to the USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Feeder calves trended fully steady to firm in comparison to the previous sale. Cattle quality was average to good. In regard to buyer attendance and demand, there was a full compliment of regular Platte Valley buyers and several drifters from northern Nebraska. Receipts consisted of 73% steers and 27% heifers, with 78% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 386 lbs., 138.50; 16 head, 451 to 496 lbs., 118.00 to 128.00 (122.33); 511 to 547 lbs., 110.25 to 120.00 (114.32); 552 to 587 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (112.44); 603 to 643 lbs., 103.00 to 111.25 (108.56) calves; 650 to 681 lbs., 101.75 to 110.10 (107.16) calves; 701 to 746 lbs., 100.50 to 109.50 (106.00) calves; 768 to 791 lbs., 99.50 to 106.60 (103.56) calves; 804 to 849 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (104.49) calves;. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 489 to 499 lbs., 114.50 to 115.50 (115.03); 551 to 570 lbs., 106.00 to 109.50 (107.80); 10 head, 665 lbs., 95.50 calves; 16 head, 792 lbs., 95.50; 16 head, 865 to 871 lbs., 87.50 to 90.50 (88.99) calves.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 16 head, 438 to 448 lbs., 115.50 to 121.00 (118.91); 453 to 494 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00 (111.19); 515 to 549 lbs., 96.00 to 105.50 (103.72); 552 to 580 lbs., 98.00 to 106.50 (102.18); 606 to 645 lbs., 98.50 to 100.25 ( 99.38) calves; 655 to 692 lbs., 94.85 to 107.50 (100.90) calves; 69 head, 735 lbs., 95.00 to 98.35 (97.43) calves; 10 head, 769 lbs., 90.50 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 633 lbs., 90.50 calves; 5 head, 735 lbs., 89.50.
