Joplin regional feeder sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 7,550 head Dec. 18, compared to 8,200 head last week and 4,365 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 650 pounds and heifers under 500 pounds were steady, steers over 650 pounds and heifers over 500 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Demand was moderate, supply was moderate to heavy. The bulk of the calf offering were weaned, in medium to thin condition, yearlings medium flesh. The feeder supply included 47% steers, 46% heifers, 6% bulls, with 46% over 600 pounds.
