ICA board elects new officersIowa The Iowa Cattlemen's Association Board of Directors elected a new team of officers at the Dec. 6 board meeting which was held prior to the start of the ICA Winter Conference on Dec. 7 and 8. Kevin Carstensen of Odebolt, Iowa, was elected the 2007 ICA president. He and his wife, Terri, have operated a 750-head feedlot for the past 29 years. They also have a diversified operation of 800 acres of row crops and hay. Carstensen has actively volunteered his time at the county, state and national level for cattle industry organizations. He was Sac County Cattlemen's Association president several times. He has been a member of the ICA Board of Directors for nine years, and has served as northwest Iowa regional ICA vice president for the past four years. He also chairs the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Private Lands and Environmental Management Committee. Kent Pruismann of Rock Valley, Iowa, was elected the 2007 ICA president-elect. He and his wife, Sylvia, have a diversified livestock and grain operation, finishing about 2,500 cattle and 25,000 hogs per year. He has been actively involved with the ICA for 16 years and currently serves as the feedlot representative on the ICA board. He is a strong proponent of value-added agriculture and serves on the board of Siouxland Ethanol and Livestock Cooperative at Sioux Center, Iowa. Doug Wedemeyer of Casey, Iowa, will become the southwest Iowa regional ICA vice president for 2007. He and his wife, Judy, operate a feedlot and farm 2,000 acres south of Casey. He is an auctioneer and part owner of Wedemeyer Auction and Realty. He has served on the ICA board for seven years, was the 2005 ICA Membership Committee chairman, and currently serves on the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation Board of Directors. Craig White of Estherville, Iowa, was elected the 2007 northwest Iowa regional ICA vice president. He and his wife, Margaret, own a 225-head commercial herd of Angus-cross cows and a 600-head, one-time capacity feedlot, in addition to their crop operation. He has served on ICA committees and as an ICA board member for several years. He also served on the board of the Cow Herd Improvement Program and Iowa Quality Beef Supply Network. Jim Falvey of West Des Moines, Iowa, was elected the 2007 associate vice president of the ICA Board of Directors. He works for McVean Trading and Investments. He currently serves on the ICA board as a district director and has been active on the ICA Membership Committee. Date: 12/20/06
