Faith livestock sales

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 1,400 head Dec. 11, compared to 645 head last week and 1,204 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder calves sold mostly steady with last week's light test. Slaughter cows and feeder cows sold mostly steady. Slaughter bulls sold steady in a light test. Demand was good on all classes. Feeder receipts included 73% steers, 27% heifers, with 54% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 82% feeder cattle, 7% replacement females, with the balance mostly slaughter cows and bulls.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 493 lbs., 124.00; 518 to 546 lbs., 119.50 to 124.00 (121.69); 513 to 520 lbs., 116.00 to 123.60 (122.80) value added; 563 to 589 lbs., 106.25 to 114.00 (107.84); 20 head, 573 to 586 lbs., 110.50 to 111.50 (111.14) value added; 609 to 616 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00 (113.47) calves; 652 to 695 lbs., 104.25 to 107.60 (106.79) calves; 703 to 729 lbs., 95.00 to 107.00 (101.60) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 420 to 442 lbs., 117.50 to 121.00 (119.07); 6 head, 461 lbs., 112.00; 16 head, 649 lbs., 103.75 calves.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 406 lbs., 116.00; 486 to 495 lbs., 104.75 to 111.50 (106.69); 521 to 545 lbs., 106.00 to 109.50 (109.29); 8 head, 523 lbs., 113.00 value added; 559 to 563 lbs., 104.50 to 108.50 (106.13); 569 to 572 lbs., 102.25 to 108.00 (103.75) value added; 11 head, 673 to 687 lbs, 92.75 to 95.25 (94.33) calves; 9 head, 757 lbs., 90.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 495 lbs., 100.50; 571 to 574 lbs., 95.25 to 98.75 (97.09). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 485 lbs., 92.50.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 1030 to 1065 lbs., 82.25. Heiferettes, 1102 lbs., 66.00. Feeder cows, Large frame 1, 1390 to 1555 lbs., 43.00 to 45.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1100 to 1320 lbs., 44.00 to 46.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1245 lbs., 43.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1155 to 1430 lbs., 41.50 to 42.50.

Slaughter bulls: Qualified for natural beef programs, Yield grade 1 to 2, 2250 lbs., 58.00.
