Wyobraska cattle sales notesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Aug. 19, totaled 6,320 head, compared to 10,250 head last week and 12,800 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were not well tested at Wyoming auctions. Demand was moderate to good. In the direct trade comparable steer and heifers sales were steady with last week. Direct trade is slow to moderate. Demand, inquiry and offerings are moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up approximately 54% of the supply, heifers 46%, with 34% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 6020 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 500 lbs., 138.50; 730 to 735 lbs., 114.50 to 118.50; fleshy 1190 lbs., 83.50. Direct, Medium to large frame 1, FOB price, 500 to 530 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00 October; 600 lbs., calves 126.00 November; 790 lbs., 115.00 September; 825 lbs., 114.00 current; 915 to 950 lbs., 105.00 to 109.25 current. Delivered price, 480 lbs., 141.00 October. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, delivered price, 940 lbs., 104.50 current. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 720 to 795 lbs., 114.00 to 117.75; 800 to 890 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; 950 lbs., 102.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 345 lbs., 139.00; yearlings 560 lbs., 111.00.
