South Central direct sheepThe South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending Aug. 18 showed receipts of 2,300 feeder lambs and 300 replacement ewes, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder lambs were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter ewes, slaughter meat goats and replacement nannies were not tested. Trading and demand were moderate. Trade slowed with lower bids. Hot, dry weather continues in the area. Feeder lambs: Texas, 2300 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 65 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 102.00. Replacement ewes: Texas, 300 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, solid mouth whiteface 50.00 per head. Date: 8/24/06
