McAlester cattle auction newsThe McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 4,000 head Aug. 22, compared to 4,300 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steer calves were $2 to $5 higher. Heifer calves were steady except those weighing 400 to 500 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder cattle were steady to $3 higher in light test. Demand was good with good attendance of buyers. Quality was average to good. Cattle were in thin to fleshy conditions. Receipts were comprised of 39% steers, 50% heifers with 10% feeder cattle over 600 pounds.
