Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,779 head April 17, compared to 2,447 head last week and 2,061 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared with last week, lightweight steers were $4 to $6 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Lightweight heifers were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. Quality was plain to average. Feeder cattle in medium to fleshy condition. Weigh-ups were average to full. Demand was very good with good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 40% steers, 46% heifers, 10% bulls, with 25% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Demand was very good on packer cows and bred cows. A total of 577 cows and bulls sold with 33% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 260 to 290 lbs., 150.00 to 159.50 (157.00); 13 head, 308 to 344 lbs., 150.00 to 164.00 (153.63); 353 to 394 lbs., 140.00 to 151.00 (143.92); 400 to 445 lbs., 137.00 to 151.00 (140.09); 450 to 495 lbs., 132.00 to 137.00 (134.49); 500 to 536 lbs., 127.00 to 135.50 (130.05); 550 to 597 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00 (116.48); 600 to 629 lbs., 109.00 to 119.50 (110.86) calves. Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 315 to 348 lbs., 133.00 to 144.00 (141.23); 400 to 445 lbs, 120.00 to 136.00 (132.81); 11 head, 513 to 535 lbs., 118.00 to 125.00 (122.33); 7 head, 641 lbs., 106.00 calves; 5 head, 653 to 680 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00 (104.70) calves; 5 head, 779 lbs., 95.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 425 to 435 lbs., 132.00 to 137.00 (134.64); 15 head, 505 to 538 lbs., 122.00 to 132.00 (125.80); 568 to 580 lbs., 102.50 to 112.00 (108.45); 7 head, 683 to 685 lbs., 92.50 to 94.50 ( 92.79). Small and medium frame 1, 6 head, 515 to 530 lbs., 115.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 7 head, 413 to 440 lbs., 93.00 to 104.00 (96.67); 10 head, 492 to 493 lbs., 89.00 to 95.50 (92.25); 7 head, 610 lbs., 82.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 270 to 285 lbs., 135.00 to 143.00 (140.96); 11 head, 315 to 345 lbs., 135.00 to 143.00 (138.25); 18 head, 355 to 388 lbs., 130.00 to 145.00 (133.75); 400 to 447 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00 (120.63); 453 to 495 lbs., 112.50 to 120.00 (116.83); 500 to 544 lbs., 110.00 to 119.00 (115.98); 555 to 590 lbs., 110.00 to 122.00 (113.81); 9 head, 588 lbs., 105.50 fleshy); 600 to 635 lbs., 96.00 to 108.50 (105.63) calves; 655 to 692 lbs., 93.50 to 104.50 (98.52) calves; 11 head, 755 to 785 lbs., 88.00 to 98.50 ( 92.30). Slaughter cows: Breakers, 22 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1250 to 1875 lbs., 52.50 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 62.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Boners, 32 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1450 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00. Lean, 52 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1200 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 65.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Light, 60 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 42.50 to 46.00; high dressing, 47.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 38.50 to 42.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 26 head, 1450 to 2425 lbs., 63.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 67.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 8 to 9 years old, 1050 to 1175 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, low quality, 550.00 to 610.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, low to average quality, 860.00 to 1175.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality, 750.00 to 920.00.
