Livestock judging team finishes strongThe Oklahoma Panhandle State University Livestock Judging team completed its spring competitions in San Antonio and Houston, where they finished sixth and 10th, respectively. In San Antonio, Kim Gardner again set the pace by winning first in the sheep division, fourth in both swine and goats, seventh in oral reasons and eighth in the overall contest. The Houston contest proved to be the toughest of the year. Coach Aaron Preator said, "We took some heat on a market lamb class that included reasons, and when a team makes those mistakes, it falls down a few spots." Even so, Kim Gardner and Beth Marsh both posted top twenty scores. Members of the team include Gardner from Artesia, N.M.; Marsh from Fort Lupton, Colo.; Karla Rundell, Gunnison, Colo.; Shane Nelson, Verdon, Neb.; Kim Rahe, Pemberville, Ohio; Emily Rowe, Ulysses, Kan., and John Ward, Ramona, Okla. The team will continue working out through the spring to gear up for the fall contests. The team will compete in Tulsa; Austin, Minn.; Dallas; Kansas City, Mo.; Lubbock, Texas, and Louisville, Ky.
