Montana crop survey now onlineFor the seventh consecutive year, the Montana Grain Growers Association (MGGA) is conducting a statewide crop survey throughout the growing season. Survey results will be posted every Tuesday online at www.montanamarketmanager.org. A map illustrating Montana cropping zones allows readers to click on a specific region to learn about crop conditions in that area. Producers from each region will be submitting weekly reports as the cropping season progresses. Reports will include updates on precipitation, soil moisture conditions, growth stage, crop conditions, pest problems and estimated yield potential. "Since we began surveying producers seven years ago, we have had great participation," said Lynmarie Laurens, MarketManager program coordinator. "The survey has been helpful to producers, extension agents, business leaders, and legislators." Laurens said the Montana Crop Survey will be conducted through harvest and all Montana producers are welcome to contribute. Archived survey results from past crop years are also available on the site. The crop survey can be found in the Weather drop-down menu of the website. Access to the news and pricing sections of Montana MarketManager Online is available to Montana Grain Growers or Montana Stockgrowers Association members.
