Water team harvests awardTexas A team of water experts from the Texas A&M University System has won the "Blue Ribbon Award" recently. Presented by the American Society of Biological and Agricultural Engineers for the Rainwater Harvesting Web site, "Blue Ribbon" awards are given for outstanding videotapes, CDs, Web pages and printed manuals, bulletins and fact sheets. Awards were announced at the association's recent annual meeting. The team members are Dr. Russell Persyn, Texas Cooperative Extension agricultural engineer; Dr. Valeen Silvy, program coordinator, Texas Water Resources Institute; Dr. Dana Porter, Extension agricultural engineer; Rachel Alexander, research assistant, department of recreation and parks, Texas A&M University; and John Lyons, student technician, Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Texas A&M. Located at http://rainwaterharvesting.tamu.edu, the site includes instruction for designing and building rainwater harvesting systems for home landscapes in Texas. Among the site's unique features is a calculator for determining requirements for individual rainwater harvesting systems. Date: 9/22/05
