The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,283 head Sept. 19, compared to 2,493 head last week and 4,023 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds sold mostly steady, over 600 pounds sold $1 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 52% of the run, heifers 48%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 60%.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle-aged, 800 to 1490 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 750.00 to 985.00 per head; young to middle-aged, 850 to 1035 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, 600.00 to 720.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle-aged, 700 to 1385 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 925.00 to 1285.00 per pair; young to middle-aged, 800 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 600.00 to 850.00 per pair.
