Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,347 head Sept. 15, compared to 2,617 head last week and 3,926 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 650 pounds were steady on a light test, 650 to 800 pounds were steady, and 800 to 950 pounds were $1 to $1.50 higher. Heifers weighing 400 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher compared to last week's light supply, and 700 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 65% steers and 38% heifers.
