Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,348 head, Sept. 15, compared to 923 head, last week and 2,733 head, last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers weighing 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers weighing 700 to 950 pounds were steady to higher in a light supply. Feeder heifers weighing 600 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Receipts included 80% 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under, 9% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 70% heifers and 30% steers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 67.00 to 71.00 (68.94); low dressing, 58.00 to 64.00 (61.00).
