Tulia livestock auction report

Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,502 head Oct. 17, compared to 1,991 head last week and 4,794 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds were $4 to $6 higher, over 500 pounds were mostly steady. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, over 600 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 higher on a light test. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 70% of the run, heifers 30%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 65%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 225 to 275 lbs., 175.00 to 176.00; 355 to 400 lbs., 150.00 to 158.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 131.00 to 140.50, package 484 lbs., full 129.00; 500 to 560 lbs., 124.00 to 131.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 116.00 to 123.50, 640 to 680 lbs., full 111.00 to 112.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.50 to 119.50, 775 to 800 lbs., full 106.00 to 108.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 102.50 to 107.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 275 to 300 lbs., 156.00 to 159.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 145.00 to 151.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 131.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 116.35; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 110.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 132.00 to 140.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 98.75 to 102.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, package 472 lbs., 120.50; lot 517 lbs., 115.00; 600 to 625 lbs., 95.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 92.50 to 99.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 375 lbs., 130.00 to 139.90; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 127.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 113.00; 690 to 700 lbs., 104.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 93.50 to 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, package, 282 lbs., 136.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 113.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 99.00 to 103.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00; few 898 lbs., 91.00. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, package, 388 lbs., 120.00; 425 to 475 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 94.00 to 105.00, lot 538 lbs., fleshy 92.50; 600 to 625 lbs., 97.50 to 98.00, package 618 lbs., fleshy 93.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 39.50 to 42.50; 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 35.50 to 38.50, few. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 42.00 to 46.50; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 39.50 to 44.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 46.50 to 47.00, few; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 40.00 to 44.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 37.00 to 40.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 35.00 to 36.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1250 lbs., 58.00, individual; high dressing, 1350 to 1505 lbs., 60.00 to 62.50, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle-aged, 1030 to 1365 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 600.00 to 850.00 per head.
