Texhoma livestock auction news

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 5,657 head Oct. 19, compared to 1,955 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were $2 lower. Steer calves were steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves under 500 pounds were $2 to $3 higher, heavier weights were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Packer demand was light to moderate. A total of 330 cows and bulls sold with 16% going to packers. The supply consisted of 57% over 600 pounds, 37% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 29% of supply.

Boners, 20 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1325 lbs., 47.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 48.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 45.25. Lean, 23 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1150 lbs., 43.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 48.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 43.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 2 head, 1475 to 1575 lbs., 54.50 to 55.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 6 to 7 years old, 1300 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality 870.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1250 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 760.00 to 830.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1300 lbs., with 400-lb. calves, high black, bred back 1300.00.
