The St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 5,037 head Oct. 14, compared to 2,944 head last week, and 4,914 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steer and heifer calves weighing 400 to 600 pounds, with all shots, sold fully steady to $1 higher. Calves weighing 600 to 700 pounds sold steady to $4 higher. There were not sufficient numbers of yearlings in any weight group to test, but the heifers had a higher undertone. Feeder receipts included 58% steers and 42% heifers, with 19% over 600 pounds. Many buyers were on the seats with good to very good demand. Calves with only branding time shots discounted noticeably in most cases.
