Software provides compatible data downloadsThe Consulting Company, DeWitt, Iowa, recently developed a new software, AgriDNA, which allows agricultural dealers, crop advisors and growers to download compatible standardized chemical, seed, fertilizer, equipment and general production practice information into the industry's leading GPS/GIS software. AgriDNA, developed in partnership with Farm Works software, Ag Leader Technology, Case IH, New Holland, Ag Renaissance and Map Shots, represents a significant breakthrough in software efficiency. Previously growers, dealers and consultants had to endure the cumbersome problems associated with manual data since automatic downloads were not available to end users. The basic service module of AgriDNA software allows data to be imported from the industry's leading chemical name supplier (CDMS), which powers the software. AgriDNA allows users to maintain accurate lists of: --Seed companies, hybrid variety numbers, traits and maturity; --Equipment manufacturer's product lines; --Pest, weed, disease and insect limiting factors; --Cultural practices by application, tillage and units of measure. The Advanced Professional Services module for AgriDNA provides --Checking capability to ensure chemical registration compliance and compatibility with other regional, soil and rate variables; --Worker Protection Safety Sheets; --Current Material Safety Data Sheets. Mick Johnston, product manager for the Consulting Company, said, "Clients and industry leaders have been asking us to develop this kind of software for years so, when we realized that no one else was going to provide the kind of comprehensive and compatible data and software required by growers, dealers and advisors, we decided to go ahead and do it."
