SD Beef Bucks introduces debit cards

South Dakota

South Dakota Beef Bucks, Inc., has now enabled the consumer to give the gift of beef without the use of refrigeration. Purchasers can give the gift of beef on a VISA debit card. The BEEF BUCK/VISA is accepted anywhere the VISA card is accepted world-wide for the purpose of purchasing beef at retailers for home preparation, for a beef meal in a family restaurant, steak house, fast-food service or with a home-delivery service.

The card can be loaded anywhere from $25 to $500, and given to anyone for any occasion--birthday, Christmas, wedding, thank you, retirement--the list is as long as your imagination. The card can be re-loaded up to the expiration date. The acquisition fee for the BEEF BUCK/VISA card is $4, plus the face value of the card. The cost includes a gift giving card with an area for your message and an envelope.

South Dakota Beef Bucks, Inc., will continue with their present Beef Bucks pre-paid check, which is available in $5, $10 and $20 denominations. These pre-paid checks have been used throughout the United States and may be purchased at face value.

The South Dakota Beef Bucks program was established for the purpose of promoting the beef industry as well as educating consumers and producers throughout the U.S. The program was incorporated as a non-profit organization for the afore mentioned purposes and has a federal tax status of 501(c)6. The Beef Bucks program has awarded 11 scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to students attending institutions of higher education since its conception in 1997. As there is no profit on the Beef Bucks sales for maintaining the program and scholarship fun, two recipe books have been produced for resale and projects such as an annual golf tournament. There are no membership fees, nor are checkoff dollars involved in the program.
