OKC West livestock report

The OKC West El Reno Livestock Market, El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 11,040 head Oct. 26, compared to 11,906 head last week, and 11,893 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 lower, with a decline on those over 750 pounds. Feeder heifers continued to not be well established. Steer calves were $2 to $4 higher. Heifer calves were steady. Demand was good. Quality of calves was average to attractive. Light supply of feeders plain to average in quality. Weigh-ups were average. Calves in medium to fleshy conditions. Feeder cattle in medium to moderate flesh. Slaughter cows were $.50 to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. Demand from packers and country buyers moderate. Many thin cows returning to further feeding programs as is normal for this season. A total of 570 cows and bulls sold with 42% to packers. The supply consisted of 55% over 600 pounds, 5% cows and bulls, and 37% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 350 to 400 lbs., 152.00 to 160.00 (157.19); 400 to 450 lbs., 141.00 to 155.00 (148.73); 450 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 146.50 (138.81); 500 to 550 lbs., 123.00 to 138.75 (131.29); 550 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 131.00 (123.42); 600 to 650 lbs., 110.00 to 120.50 (117.00); 650 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 115.50 (111.92); 700 to 750 lb. calves 107.50 to 117.00 (110.46). Yearlings, 600 to 700 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00 (120.07); 700 to 750 lbs., 113.00 to 122.50 (117.07); 750 to 800 lbs., 108.75 to 113.00 (111.15); 800 to 900 lbs., 109.00 to 111.75 (109.53).

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 325 to 450 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; 525 to 675 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 94.00 to 94.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 135.50 (132.94); 400 to 450 lbs., 123.50 to 135.50 (128.53); 450 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 127.50 (122.87); 500 to 550 lbs., 113.00 to 127.00 (117.57); 550 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00 (113.01); 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 111.00 (106.79). Yearlings, 700 to 750 lbs., 104.75 to 110.00 (107.32); 800 to 900 lbs., 101.50 to 104.50 (103.25).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 35 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1050 to 1675 lbs., 46.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 41.75 to 46.00. Boners, 18 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1550 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 41.00 to 45.00. Lean, 71 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 45.00 to 47.75; high dressing, 47.50 to 48.50; low dressing, 38.00 to 44.75. Light, 45 head, 75 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.50 to 43.00; high dressing, 45.00 to 46.75; low dressing, 37.00 to 43.00, very low 33.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 29 head, 1400 to 2300 lbs., 57.00 to 60.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 65.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 56.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 2 to 6 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, high quality blacks, 830.00 to 910.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1100 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 735.00 to 790.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1050 to 1250 lbs., 5 months bred, high quality blacks, 785.00 to 805.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1025 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 585.00 to 700.00.
