The combined sales volume at Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Nov. 19 totaled 11,300 head, compared to 10,075 head last week and 9,650 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 pounds sold unevenly steady, with instances of $2 to $7 higher, steers over 700 pounds generally steady in light test, heifers steady to $3 higher, with instances of $4 to $5 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Direct feeder steers were steady, heifers were steady to $2 higher. Direct trade was slow. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Offerings were light to moderate. Several feedlots indicating they are full or near capacity. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 61% of the supply, heifers 39%, with 30% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1800 head of the total receipts.
