OKC West cattle sales

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 3,908 head Nov. 17, compared to 3,448 head last week and 1,292 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer and heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher. Demand was good for all classes and calves despite the extreme dry weather and short Wheat conditions. Quality was plain to average, few attractive. Feeder cattle in slightly thin to moderate flesh conditions. Calves in medium to fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. Slaughter cows were $1 higher, except boner cows sold steady. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was good. A total of 348 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers. The supply consisted of 65% over 600 pounds, 35% under 600 pounds, 9% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 53% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 425 to 475 lbs., 143.00 to 156.00; 500 to 500 to 550 lbs., 132.00 to 138.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 128.00 to 132.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00; 715 lbs., 110.00. Yearlings, 595 lbs., 135.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 122.50 to 123.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 118.75 to 120.00; 810 lbs., 118.25; 950 lbs., 109.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, calves, 390 lbs., 149.00; 450 to 475 lbs., 139.00 to 149.00; 540 to 580 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 113.00 to 118.00. Yearlings, 695 lbs., 117.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 2, calves, 440 to 450 lbs., 139.00 to 141.00; 625 to 675 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00. Yearlings, 550 to 600 lbs., 122.00 to 124.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 120.00; 740 to 775 lbs., 109.50 to 115.00; 800 to 825 lbs., 109.50 to 113.00; 965 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 3, 650 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 110.50; 815 lbs., 107.50; 905 lbs., 95.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 350 to 400 lbs., 131.00 to 140.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 129.00 to 143.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 135.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 125.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00. Yearlings, 580 lbs., 130.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.85 to 116.00; 725 to 750 lbs., 110.75 to 111.00; few 795 lbs., 106.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, calves 370 lbs., 131.00; 400 to 425 lbs., 130.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00; 895 lbs., 100.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 19 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1675 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 42.50 to 45.00. Boners, 22 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1475 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.50 to 54.00; low dressing, 41.50 to 46.50. Lean, 18 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1325 lbs., 44.50 to 45.00; high dressing, 48.50 to 51.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 43.00. Lights, 3 head, 80 to 90% lean, 900 to 1000 lbs., 49.50; low dressing, 40.50 to 42.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 17 head, 1625 to 2150 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 66.50; low dressing, 56.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 3 years old, 1300 lbs., 4 months bred, high black 1150.00; 6 years old, 1150 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, high black 1050.00 to 1085.00; 5 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality 900.00 to 960.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, average quality 790.00 to 860.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 640.00 to 710.00.
