Tulsa livestock sales newsThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,952 head May 23, compared to 2,695 head last week and 2,347 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, lightweight steers were $3 to $5 lower, with feeder steers $2 to $3 lower. Heifers were $1 to $2 lower. Quality was fair with a few fleshy calves and feeders. Demand was good with good attendance of buyers. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Receipts were comprised of 55% steers, 34% heifers, 10% bulls, with 16% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady, with demand very good. A total of 370 cows and bulls sold with 40% going to packers.
