Tamarisk workshop, tour scheduledColorado Land and water conservationists, mark your calendar to attend the Conservation Partners Conquer Tamarisk Conference sponsored by the Lower Arkansas Watershed Association of Conservation Districts on June 23. The program will begin at 9 a.m. at the Best Western Cow Palace in Lamar. Presenters will address the biology and history of tamarisk, arsenal/habitat for tamarisk control, alternatives for ranchers, tamarisk's impact on wildlife, Bent's Old Fort Tamarisk Project, and the Bent County Tamarisk Project. Following the program, the participants will visit tamarisk removal sites near Las Animas and at Bent's Old Fort. The cost of the workshop and tour is $15. This includes lunch. To register, interested individuals need to send a $15 check made payable to the Lower Arkansas Watershed Association by June 6 to Danielle Wollert, Prowers Conservation District, 3503 S.
