St. Onge cattle sales reportThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,060 head May 20, compared to 1,947 head two weeks ago and 1,247 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends on feeder cattle were not applicable due to light receipts offered in mostly small packages. Slaughter cows sold $2 to $3 higher than two weeks ago. Slaughter bulls sold fully steady. A large percentage of weigh-up cows went back to the country. Buyers displayed good demand for all classes offered. Feeder receipts included 87% heifers, 9% bulls and 4% steers, with 79% over 600 pounds. The offering was about 29% pairs, 23% replacement females, 22% feeders, 17% slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls and the balance was mostly feeder bulls, baby calves, bred cows and Longhorn roping cattle. Feeder steers: Medium frame 2, 5 head, 459 lbs., 141.00 full. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 554 to 598 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00 (124.89); 14 head, 708 to 735 lbs., 116.00 to 116.50 (116.11); 5 head, 809 lbs., 107.50; 56 head, 800 lbs., 108.10 value enhanced; 17 head, 862 lbs., 107.50 replacement. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 5 head, 697 lbs., 108.00. Medium frame 1 and 2, 7 head, 419 lbs., 141.50. Feeder bulls: Large frame 1, 13 head, 1000 lbs., 86.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1798 to 2070 lbs., 60.00 to 61.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1105 to 1720 lbs., 63.00 to 65.50; high dressing, 66.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 60.00 to 62.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1455 lbs., 59.00 to 64.50; high dressing, 65.00 to 67.25; low dressing, 55.00 to 58.50.
