Springfield livestock sales report
The Springfield Livestock Market Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,450 head May 18, compared to 2,450 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers under 550 pounds were $4 to $6 higher, over 550 pounds were steady, the exception was 600 weights were $2 to $3 lower. Holsteins under 600 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, 600- to 800-pounds were $1 to 2.00 lower, over 800 pounds were steady to $1 higher, heifers under 450 pounds were steady to $3 higher, over 450 pounds were steady. Demand was moderate to good, supply was moderate. The feeder supply included 40% steers, 19% Holsteins, 32% heifers, 9% bulls, with 32% over 600 pounds.
