Slightly to sharply higher bids seen for grain, soybeans

Grain and soybeans saw slight to sharply higher bids May 23, while Wheat found support from lack of rain and hot temperatures over the weekend in the southern plains, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Weekly export inspections were reported at 13 million bushels. Corn and soybeans rallied as the out look ahead calls for dry and cooler temperatures through out the Midwest. The cooler temperatures have traders concerned of slow crop progress. Corn weekly export inspections came in at 35.9 million bushels and soybeans 11 million bushels.

Wheat was 9 to 23 cents higher, with Portland 4 to 5 cents higher. Corn was 3 to 10 cents higher with Kansas City 12 cents higher. Sorghum was 11 to 23 cents higher. Soybeans were 3 to 10 cents higher with Minneapolis 1 cent higher.

Grains inspected for export for week ending May 19: Wheat totaled 13.0 million bushels, down 5.2 million bushels; corn 35.9 million bushels, up 7.6 million bushels; sorghum 4.2 million bushels, up 1.9 million; and soybeans 11.0 million bushels, up 800 thousand bushels compared to a week ago.

Crop marketing years begin June 1 for Wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.
