Horse lovers camp announcedKansas Horses of Hope Riding Center is sponsoring a Horse Lovers Summer Camp on June 6 to 8 and again on July 11 to 13 at the Horses of Hope Riding Center in rural Columbus/Baxter Springs. This clinic is open to all ages, but is geared for the beginner to intermediate skilled horse lovers. It is a great camp for those who are thinking about getting a horse, and for those who just want to know more about horses. Spend three days working with horses and miniatures. Children who work with horses are participating in a wholesome activity and they receive many intangible benefits including: Accountability, dependability, consideration, understanding, concentration, respect and communication. At the upcoming Horse Lover's Camp at Horses of Hope Riding Center, participants will be introduced to: --Horse safety, catching, leading, --Grooming and round pen work, --Western Riding, trail riding and gymnkhana (mounted) games, --Vaulting: Gymnastics on the back of a moving horse, --Driving: Take a drive in a horse-drawn or miniature drawn cart. In the evenings, Horses of Hope will have cookouts, horse movies, and participants will be able to create his or her very own "Horse Lovers Memory Book & Journal" to remember the experience and share with others. Campers will spend three days and two nights at the facility. The camp fee is $225 per participant which includes all meals during the three day event and lodging in the air conditioned loft overlooking the riding arena, and the use of properly trained horses and necessary equipment. In addition, participants will receive a t-shirt, a disposable camera to take pictures of his/her camp experience and materials to make his/her own "Horse Lover Memory Book & Journal." This event is sponsored by Horses of Hope Therapeutic Riding Center in Baxter Springs, Kan., and Buffalo, Mo.
