St. Onge auction report

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 469 head June 17, compared to 622 head last week, and 1,308 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle were too few to report. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady. Not many low dressing cows offered. A large number of heifers and two year olds in the offering. Receipts were about 48% slaughter cows, 22% replacement females, 13% pairs, 6% slaughter bulls and the balance was baby calves, feeder bulls, and late calving cows.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 1 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1770 lbs., 61.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1220 to 1675 lbs., 60.00 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.75 to 64.00; low dressing, 58.00 to 59.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 940 to 1480 lbs., 57.00 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 51.50 to 56.50.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 790 to 820 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00; 910 to 1123 lbs., 86.00 to 92.00; 2 years old, 830 to 1198 lbs., 74.50 to 85.00; heiferettes, 1085 to 1250 lbs., 68.00 to 74.50; feeder cows, 1100 to 1340 lbs., 62.50 to 65.50, few younger 66.00 to 68.00.

Baby calves: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 185 to 305 lbs., 390.00 to 435.00; 105 to 170 lbs., 350.00 to 400.00; 60 to 75 lbs., 250.00 to 275.00.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1, 755 to 780 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00; 905 to 930 lbs., 87.00 to 89.00; 1040 to 1070 lbs., 79.00 to 81.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1425 to 2255 lbs., 71.00 to 76.75; high dressing, 79.50 to 80.75; low dressing, 65.00 to 70.25.
