South Central direct sheepThe South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending June 17, showed receipts of 2,500 feeder lambs and 400 slaughter goats, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder lambs and slaughter goats were steady. There were no tests on slaughter and replacement ewes. Trading and demand were moderate. Spear grass remains an issue and discounts continue to be made accordingly. Several bunches of lambs are trading now due to the hot, dry weather. Feeder lambs: Texas, 2500 head, Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 70 to 80 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00; 80 to 90 lbs., 125.00 to 128.00, most with .40 to .50 slides. Slaughter meat goats: Kids, 400 head, Selection 1 and 2, 55 to 60 lbs., 125.00. Date: 6/23/05
