OKC West cattle sales

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,390 head June 22, compared to 5,670 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were steady. Demand was moderate to good with most action on heavier weight cattle. Steer and heifer calves were steady. Demand was good for calves. Several high quality ranch calves were included. Most of these calves were short weaned or in heavy flesh. Feeder cattlewere in medium to moderate flesh. Weather was hot and dry and prompting weigh-ups of average to many full. Quality was plain to average, with several fancy calves. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was good for the light numbers. A total of 120 cows and bulls sold with 50% going to packers. The supply consisted of 84% over 600 pounds, 14% under 600 pounds, 2% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 39% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 415 lbs., 157.00; package 475 lbs., 134.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 125.00 to 140.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 121.50 to 136.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 116.00 to 125.75; 650 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 107.50 to 115.00. Yearlings, 575 lbs., 132.50; few 700 to 775 lbs., 112.00 to 119.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 104.00 to 110.25; 900 to 1000 lbs., 98.25 to 104.25. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 425 to 475 lbs., 134.00 to 142.00; 525 lbs., 128.00; 675 lbs., 120.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 112.00 to 112.50, 775 lb. calves 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 102.50 to 108.50. Medium and large frame 2, 515 lbs., 126.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 118.00 to 119.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 116.50; 850 to 875 lbs., 102.75 to 106.75; 900 to 950 lbs., 99.75 to 103.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 295 lbs., 140.00; 375 to 400 lbs., 133.00 to 134.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 110.00 to 117.50. Yearlings, 600 to 675 lbs., 111.00 to 119.00; 700 lbs., 110.75; 750 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00; 825 to 875 lbs., 97.75 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 520 lbs., 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00; 770 lbs., 104.75; 800 to 835 lbs., 102.00 to 103.25. Medium and large frame 2, calves: 500 to 575 lbs., 106.00 to 116.50; 635 lbs., 109.50. Yearlings, 525 to 600 lbs., 111.50 to 122.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 106.75 to 110.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.50 to 106.50; 875 to 900 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 12 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1600 lb., 56.50 59.50; high dressing, 60.00; low dressing, 52.00 to 55.00. Boners, 20 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1700 lbs., 56.50 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 54.00. Lean, 13 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 53.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 48.00 to 51.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 4 head, 1400 to 2275 lbs., 70.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 66.00 to 68.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 800 to 900 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality black, 810.00 to 870.00; 3 to 4 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, high quality black, 980.00; 3 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, average quality black, 800.00 to 880.00; 10 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 730.00 to 785.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 2 to 4 years old, 1000 to 1050 lbs., with 250- to 350-lb. calves, high quality black, 1400.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., with 200- to 275-lb. calves, average quality, 1080.00 to 1200.00.
