Nebraska Soybean Board ballots due Aug. 1

Nebraska

Election ballots for Districts 5 of the Nebraska Soybean Board will be mailed on July 15, 2005, to soybean producers in this district. The ballot envelope must be printed and signed on the back and postmarked by Aug. 1, 2005, to be valid. The ballots will be collected by the Saunders County Extension agency and tabulated. Results will be announced in August.

Ballots will be mailed to the following counties in this district:

District 5: Cass, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson.

Candidates:

--Mark Caspers: Auburn, Nemaha County;

--Ricky J. Schmutte, Roca, Lancaster County.

Richard Swartz, Minden, District 7 director, is running unopposed; therefore he will automatically retain his seat as District 7 Board member. No ballots will be mailed to District 7, which includes Adams, Buffalo, Clay, Franklin, Hall, Kearney, Nuckolls and Webster.

Three-year terms for these seats begin Oct. 1, 2005 and end Sept. 30, 2008.

Nebraska Soybean Board directors are responsible for administering the state's share of the one-half of one percent national check-off on soybeans produced in Nebraska. The funds are invested in research, marketing and promotion projects for soybeans.
