Nebraska Cattlemen awards baler to membership recruiter

Nebraska

Phil Schroeder's hope of having a new hay baler this summer was realized last week, part luck and part his own initiative. By recruiting two Nebraska Cattlemen members, the Knox County cattleman from Bloomfield had his name entered into a drawing for a year's use of a New Holland baler.

Schroeder's name was drawn during the Nebraska Cattlemen Midyear Conference held June 3 in North Platte. He was chosen to receive a free one-year lease on a New Holland BR Roll-Belt round baler. The baler's features include Bale-Slice, CropCutter, EdgeWrap and Bale Command Plus options.

Earlier this year, Nebraska Cattlemen won the year lease in recognition of outstanding National Cattlemen's Beef Association membership efforts for fiscal year 2004. After winning the lease, NC decided to offer it as an incentive in its own membership recruiting campaign.

"We know that NC members like Phil recruit other members because they value the work the association does on their behalf," said Scott Reynolds, a rancher and veterinarian from Berwyn who currently serves as a NC Executive Committee member and Membership Committee chairman. "And we were pleased to have New Holland support our efforts to represent the interests of cattle producers across the state."

The Nebraska Cattlemen Association serves as the spokesman for the state's beef cattle industry and represents professional cattle breeders, ranchers and feeders, as well as 48 county and local cattlemen's associations. Its headquarters are in Lincoln and second office in Alliance serves cattlemen in western Nebraska.
