Wyobraska cattle sales notesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending July 16, reported 8,020 head, compared to 1,950 head last week and 3,650 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not tested at the Wyoming auctions. Demand was moderate for limited supplies. Direct feeder steers were steady with last week, direct feeder heifers not comparable. Direct trade was moderate. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry and offerings were moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 61% of the supply, heifers 39%, with 80% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 8020 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, none. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 400 lbs., 146.00 November; 500 to 525 lbs., 130.00 to 132.00 November; 580 to 625 lbs., 125.00 November; 670 lbs., 125.00 delivered; 850 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; 900 to 925 lbs., 108.00 August/September. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 750 lbs., 112.00 delivered. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1 none. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 370 lbs., 137.00 November; 480 lbs., 124.00 to 125.00 November; 560 lbs., 117.00 delivered; 540 to 580 lbs., 120.00 November; 850 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00; 925 lbs., 105.00.
