Tulsa livestock market report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,360 head July 18, compared to 2,572 head last week and 2,059 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steers were $3 to $8 lower, except 700 weights were steady to $2 lower. Heifers were $2 to $8 lower. The most decline was on lighter steers and heifers. Quality was plain to average. There was a good attendance of buyers with active trade. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Flesh conditions were medium to fleshy with several fleshy calves included. Receipts were comprised of 43% steers, 41% heifers, 15% bulls, with 33% of cattle over 600 lbs. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 to $4 lower. A total of 300 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 275 to 295 lbs., 135.00 to 145.00 (140.85); 12 head, 400 to 440 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00 (122.46); 8 head, 460 to 478 lbs., 126.00; 11 head, 555 to 595 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00 (114.56); 5 head, 705 to 738 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00 (106.18); 12 head, 831 lbs., 105.50. Small frame 4, 10 head, 757 lbs., 85.00 Longhorn.

Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 465 to 490 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00 (121.00); 8 head, 505 to 518 lbs., 123.00 to 124.00 (123.49) calves; 5 head, 612 to 618 lbs., 102.00 to 111.00 (105.62) calves.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 10 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1150 to 1750 lbs., 51.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 53.50 to 56.00. Boners, 32 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1450 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.00. Lean, 42 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1550 lbs., 48.50 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 44.50 to 48.00. Light, 18 head, 85 to 90% lean, 675 to 925 lbs., 41.00 to 44.50; high dressing, 45.00 to 48.00; low dressing, 36.50 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 25 head, 1300 to 2125 lbs., 66.50 to 70.00; high dressing, 71.00 to 73.50; low dressing, 62.50 to 66.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 175- to 250 lb. calves, average quality 900.00 to 1100.00.
