Tulia livestock auction news

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,259 head July 18, compared to 1,587 head last week and 1,567 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 600- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 48% of the run, heifers 52%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 79%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 152.50 to 154.00; package 660 lbs., 110.00; 40 to 775 lbs., 107.00 to 108.50; lot 811 lbs., 100.50; 900 to 950 lbs., 92.00 to 94.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, few 432 lbs., 132.00; package 540 lbs., 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.00 to 106.00; package 822 lbs., 92.50; few 943 lbs., 91.00. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, package 399 lbs., Brahma Cross 91.00; 425 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 116.00; 575 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 97.00 to 106.00; package 806 lbs., 95.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 328 lbs., 134.00; package 418 lbs., 129.50; lot 661 lbs., 103.00; several loads 706 lbs., 102.00 to 103.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 103.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 89.00 to 95.50; 875 to 900 lbs., 86.00 to 88.00. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, package 488 lbs., 107.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 99.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 95.00 to 97.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 87.00 to 91.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, lot 482 lbs., 120.00; few 628 lbs., 103.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 92.50 to 96.50. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, package 467 lbs., 111.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 92.00 to 93.00; package 825 lbs., 89.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, over 1200 lbs., 50.50 to 52.50, few. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 51.25 to 52.25, few; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 53.50, few; high yielding, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 67.00 to 68.00, few. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 49.00 to 53.25, few; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 55.00, few; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 51.00 to 52.50, few.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1495 lbs., 73.00, individual; low dressing, 1135 to 1200 lbs., 62.50 to 66.50, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle age, 1050 to 1289 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred 625.00 to 825.00 per head; young to middle aged, 1100 to 1230 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 735.00 to 825.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young, 820 to 1195 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 1000.00 to 1360.00 per pair; young to middle aged, 1 and 2, 910 to 1300 lbs., with 75- to 250-lb. calves 760.00 to 985.00 per pair.
