Texhoma auction news

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., July 20, reported receipts of 421 head, compared to 1,426 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady in a limited test. There was no test on feeder heifers or calves. Quality was plain to average. Fill was average to full. Demand was moderate for all classes. The supply was comprised of 85% steers, 12% heifers with 90% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $3 lower. A total of 50 cows and bulls sold with 88% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 587 lbs., 115.50; 12 head, 632 lbs., 118.50 calves; 14 head, 890 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 14 head, 664 lbs., 115.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 491 lbs., 128.00; 5 head, 605 lbs., 111.50; 60 head, 718 lbs., 109.50; 750 to 776 lbs., 102.00 to 109.00 (108.22).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 490 lbs., 116.50; 14 head, 617 lbs., 109.50. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 548 lbs., 111.00; 7 head, 820 lbs., 92.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 4 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1250 to 1300 lbs., 53.50; low dressing, 48.00 to 50.00. Boners, 7 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1350 lbs., 56.00 to 58.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 48.00. Lean, 22 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 49.50 to 52.00; high dressing, 57.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 47.75. Light, 3 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 900 lbs., 40.50 to 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 8 head, 1275 to 2000 lbs., 68.75 to 70.50; high dressing, 72.75; low dressing, 65.00 to 67.00.
