St. Onge cattle sales

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 175 head July 15, compared to 272 head last week and 695 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold $3 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls sold fully steady. Feeder cattle too few to test. Receipts were about 60% slaughter cows, 16% slaughter bulls, 11% feeder cattle offered in small lots, 7% females back to the country and the balance was spring calves and feeder bulls. Next week's auction will be a regular cattle sale.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 576 lbs., 123.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers: 75 to 80% lean, 1660 to 1975 lbs., 56.00 to 59.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1160 to 1695 lbs., 56.50 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.50; low dressing, 52.00 to 55.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1015 to 1475 lbs., 56.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 53.75.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 885 to 1045 lbs., 79.00 to 87.00; heiferettes, 1180 to 1233 lbs., 65.50 to 68.00; feeder cows, 1085 to 1300 lbs., 61.00 to 61.50.

Spring calves: Mixed sex and color, per head, 265 to 275 lbs., 415.00 to 425.00; 245 lbs., full 375.00; 160 to 195 lbs., 350.00 to 360.00; 95 lbs., 250.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1460 to 2260 lbs., 72.00 to 76.50; high dressing, 77.25 to 77.75; low dressing, 66.50 to 71.25.
