Shattuck FFA members attend alumni camp

Oklahoma

The Shattuck FFA Chapter was represented at the 33rd annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp at Camp Tulakogee near Wagoner, Okla. More than 1,500 members from all across the state are expected in one of four, three and one-half day sessions, July 3 to July 16, including Tyler Helfenbein, Blake Holley, and Kyle Longhofer.

This year's camp theme is "Take 2005, Authentic Action." Campers will engage in fun-filled, action-packed activities that will instill a positive attitude, character building, citizenship and a motivated chapter officer team.

Special presenters included motivational speakers Bill Cordes, Kansas, Harvey Alston, Ohio, as well as veterinarian turned hypnotist, Dr. Al Snyder, Eau Claire, Wis.

Local families, friends and community supporters purchased FFA Alumni memberships to finance the FFA member's participation in the leadership camp, sponsored by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association. An FFA member may attend camp at no charge for every 10 FFA Alumni members in their local affiliate.

FFA Leadership camp is planned and conducted by the 2005-2006 state FFA officer team. They include Whitney Danker, president, Wellston; Travis Schnaithman, secretary, Garber; Austin Horn, reporter, Yukon; Dexter Matlock, central vice president, Tecumseh; Jarrod Johnson, northwest vice president, Garber; Hannah Gregory, southwest vice president, Tuttle; Dayla Peel, southeast vice president, Wetumka; and Kelli Piguet, northeast vice president, Vinita.

The FFA and FFA Alumni are an integral part of the Agricultural Education Division within the Oklahoma Career Tech system. The primary aim of the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association is to provide a strong, efficient, statewide organization to promote, serve and support agricultural education and the FFA.
