New Junior Red Angus event planned

Kansas

The Kansas Junior Red Angus Association (KJRA), National Junior Red Angus Association (NJRAA) and the American Red Angus (ARA) Magazine have combined to introduce a Photography Contest. It will be held in conjunction with the annual KRA field day which will be hosted by D+ Genetics, Morrowville, on Aug. 20.

The purpose of the photography contest is to help junior Red Angus enthusiasts increase their communication skills through the creative display of a message or feeling through photography.

We are looking for photos of Red Angus cattle and/or breeders, farm, ranch, show, sale scenes or extraordinary shots. All entries must contain a minimum of one Red Angus animal.

Winners will be selected in several age divisions depending on entries on field day. All photos will be displayed during the annual Kansas Red Angus field day, and again at the National Red Angus Convention (September). Attendees will have an opportunity to vote for a "People's Choice" photo.

In addition to the photography contest, The Kansas Red Angus Young Stockman contest will give participants ages 7 to 18 a chance to compete in a variety of hands on contests designed to teach them more about the Red Angus breed. They will have the opportunity to win many prizes with the overall winners earning silver belt buckles.

It will be held in conjunction with the annual KRA field day which will be hosted by D+ Genetics, Morrowville. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. There are activities for both adult and youth.

For more information about the field day and the youth contests contact Ed Durst at 785-265-3390 or Larry Durst at 785-265-3433.
