Tulsa cattle auction notes

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,297 head Jan. 24, compared to 1,404 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, lightweight steers were $3 to $5 higher, with feeder steers steady to $1 lower. Lightweight heifers were $2 to $4 lower, while 450- to 600-pound heifers were steady to $2 higher. Quality was fair to attractive with weigh-ups mostly average. Demand was good on all classes especially on lightweight steers along with good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 42% steers, 50% heifers, 7% bulls with 23% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 lower, bulls were steady. Active demand on older bred cows going back to the farm. A total of 308 cows and bulls.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 300 to 345 lbs., 148.00 to 161.00 (153.42); 355 to 395 lbs., 137.00 to 150.00 (142.08); 402 to 447 lbs., 126.00 to 138.00 (131.36); 12 head, 453 to 470 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00 (124.65); 500 to 545 lbs., 116.50 to 123.00 (120.25); 550 to 595 lbs., 108.00 to 116.00 (111.78); 602 to 645 lbs., 102.00 to 112.50 (107.54); 660 to 698 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00 (106.02); 13 head, 705 to 742 lbs., 96.00 to 104.85 (101.27); 9 head, 805 to 830 lbs., 97.00 to 99.50 (99.17). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 368 to 395 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00 (130.66); 9 head, 405 to 448 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00 (121.11); 11 head, 450 to 493 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00 (118.74); 12 head, 523 to 548 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00 (113.23).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 508 to 548 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00 (114.87); 8 head, 562 to 588 lbs., 107.50 to 111.00 (109.09); 15 head, 675 to 695 lbs., 90.00 to 101.00 (97.97).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 300 to 345 lbs., 124.00 to 133.00 (127.92); 350 to 398 lbs., 116.00 to 127.00 (121.03); 404 to 448 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00 (114.49); 452 to 495 lbs., 108.00 to 116.50 (113.28); 505 to 547 lbs., 107.00 to 116.00 (111.80); 15 head, 550 to 595 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00 (104.69); 600 to 643 lbs., 97.50 to 105.00 (100.71); 12 head, 665 to 690 lbs., 85.00 to 99.00 (91.79). Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 315 to 348 lbs., 109.50 to 120.00 (116.84); 9 head, 375 to 398 lbs., 108.50 to 115.00 (111.02); 6 head, 475 to 490 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00 (106.16); 14 head, 510 to 543 lbs., 103.50 to 107.00 (104.49).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 15 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1115 to 1700 lbs., 51.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Boners, 33 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1450 lbs., 51.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 54.75 to 57.50; low dressing, 46.50 to 50.00. Lean, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1325 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.00. Light, 25 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 975 lbs., 43.00 to 45.50; high dressing, 46.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 38.50 to 42.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 22 head, 1125 to 2525 lbs., 60.00 to 63.50; high dressing, 64.50 to 73.50; low dressing, 55.50 to 59.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, heifers, 900 head, 5 to 7 months bred, high blacks 980.00; 3 to 4 years old 1075 to 1350 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 750.00 to 930.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1250 to 1400 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality 890.00 to 1000.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, average quality 690.00 to 885.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1350 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, Braford 1050.00.
