Super Bowl of Salers Pen Bull Show announced

Eight powerful Salers pen of bulls were the center of attention at the National Western Stock Show "Super Bowl of Cattle Shows" Salers Pen Bull Show, in Denver, Colorado on Jan. 16, 2005. "The power in these bulls just keeps getting better and better. These cattle offer outstanding overall performance with their balance of numbers and tremendous ribe-eye-areas. These bulls are definitely good carcass and maternal cattle," commented Wes Hudson, Harrison, Ark. who was one of the judges along with Shad Marston, Canton, Kan., and Doug Satree, Montague, Texas. GG&T Land and Cattle Co. of Quinter, Kan. took home both Grand and Reserve Champion Salers Pen Bulls honors. Their Grand Champion Pen of Bulls averaged 1,137 lbs., 3.34 weight-per-day of age and 1.40 rib-eye-area per carcass weight. The average EPDs for this Grand Champion Pen of Bulls are: BW: 0.6, WW: 32, YW: 48, MWW: 35, MM: 19, Frame Score: 6.2, Actual Scrotal: 34, ultrasound Rib Eye Area (REA): 15.96 square inches, and Backfat: 0.23 inches. Two of these bulls were GGT P Broker 137K sons and one was a AP Polled Genesis XZ64F son. GG&T's Reserve Grand Champion Bulls Pen averaged 1,307 lbs., 3.49 weight-per-day-of age, and 1.24 rib-eye-area per carcass weight. The pen of these three bulls EPDs averaged: BW: 0.8, WW: 31, YW: 47, MWW: 37, MM: 21, Frame Score: 6.5, Actual Scrotal: 35, ultrasound REA: 16.15 square inches and Backfat: 0.20 inches. These bulls were sired by AP Polled Genesis XZ64F, GGT P Heavy Duty 100J and GGT P Broker 137K. GG&T bulls like these Champions will be available at their February 17 sale.

In the Salers Optimizer pen bulls division, MacDonald Ranches of Bismarck, N.D. won Grand Champion. This pen of bulls was sired by B C C Bushwacker 41-93, Vermilion Dateline 7078, and JBS Lancelot Jr 81L. The bulls averaged 1,193 lbs., 3.74 weight-per-day of age and 1.34 rib-eye-area per carcass weight. EPDs for these bulls averaged: BW: 2.5, WW: 30, YW: 50, MWW: 23, MM: 8, Frame Score: 6.3 Actual Scrotal, 37, ultrasound REA: 16 square inches and backfat: 0.23 inches. Champions like these MacDonald bulls will be available at MacDonald Ranches March 8, 2005 sale. Twin Valley West of Diller, Neb., won the Reserve Champion Salers Optimizer Pen Bulls with their TVW Mr. Optimizer 388K sons. These Optimizer sons averaged 1,050 lbs., 3.17 weight-per-day of age and 1.24 rib-eye-area per carcass weight. Average EPDs were as follows: BW: 0.8, WW: 16, YW: 33, MWW: 13, MM: 5, Frame Score: 6.1, Actual Scrotal: 36, ultrasound REA: 13 and backfat: 0.22. Twin Valley has many other bulls such as these winners for sale private treaty.
