OKC West cattle sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 3,885 head Jan. 26, compared to 4,674 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate for feeder cattle. Stocker steers and steer calves were $4 to $8 lower, stocker heifers and heifer calves were steady. Demand was moderate for steers, good for heifers. Quality was plain to average and not as attractive as last week. Cattle were in mostly medium flesh conditions with average weigh-ups. Slaughter cows were weak to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was moderate to good. Demand remains very good for replacement cows. Several high quality bred heifers sold to very good demand. A total of 230 cows and bulls sold with 46% going to packers. The supply consisted of 65% over 600 pounds, 29% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 43% of feeder and calf supply.

Yearlings, 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.25 to 106.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 98.00 to 103.50; 900 to 975 lbs., 96.75 to 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 680 lbs., 104.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.50 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 96.50 to 101.50; 920 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 133.00 to 143.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 121.00 to 134.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 112.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 98.75 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 95.75 to 98.25. Yearlings, 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 115.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00, lot 600 lb. replacements 109.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 102.50; 800 to 855 lbs., 93.00 to 96.50; 925 to 950 lbs., 92.00 to 92.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 485 lbs., 114.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00; 650 to 700 lbs., few 100.50; 725 lbs., 98.50; 800 lbs., 93.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 24 head, 70 to 80% lean, 1050 to 1750 51.50 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 50.50. Boners, 15 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1550 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.00. Lean, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1475 lbs., 52.50 to 53.75; high dressing, 55.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 49.00. Lights, 7 head, 80 to 90% lean, 850 to 975 lbs., 47.50 to 49.50 low dressing, 42.50 to 43.50; very low, 38.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 19 head, 1450 to 1925 lbs., 64.00 to 67.50; high dressing, 67.50 to 69.50; low dressing, 60.00 to 64.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 950 to 1050 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, high blacks 1100.00 to 1140.00; heifers, 800 to 950 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, high blacks 1000.00 to 1080.00; heifers, 750 to 850 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, average blacks 900.00 to 1000.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, high blacks 1075.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1050 to 1250 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, high blacks 950.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, average quality 825.00 to 890.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1050 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average quality, 640.00 to 660.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 2 years old, 800 to 900 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality blacks, 1080.00 to 1175.00; 7 years old, 975 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 175-lb. calves, average quality, 1000.00 to 1025.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1075 to 1150 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 880.00 to 900.00.
