New officers elected to beef councilNebraska New officers for the Nebraska Beef Council were elected Jan. 11, at the Nebraska Beef Council office in Kearney. Election results are as follows: Lin Jeffres, a cow-calf producer from Burwell, was elected as chairman. Jeffres represents producers located in District 5, this includes Garfield, Custer, Valley, Greeley, Sherman, Howard, Buffalo, and Hall counties. Ann Bruntz, a feedlot operator from Friend, was elected as vice-chair. Bruntz represents producers located in District 8, counties included in this district are Seward, Lancaster, Otoe, Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Saline, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Webster, Nuckolls, Thayer, Jefferson, Pawnee, and Richardson. Mark Spurgin, a feedlot and yearling operator from Paxton, was elected treasurer. Spurgin represents producers in District 6, counties included are Arthur, McPherson, Logan, Keith, Lincoln, Perkins, Chase, Hayes, Dundy, and Hitchcock. Craig Uden, a feedlot operator from Elwood, was elected secretary. Uden represents producers in District 9, counties included are Frontier, Gosper, Phelps, Kearney, Red Willow, Furnas, Harlan, Dawson, and Franklin. Date: 1/26/05
