St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 898 head Jan. 20, compared to 622 head last week and 321 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs and slaughter ewes sold steady. Receipts were about 65% feeder lambs, 11% slaughter lambs, 9% slaughter ewes, 8% slaughter bucks and 3% replacement ewes. The balance was miscellaneous sheep and goats.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 8 head, 55 lbs., 142.00; 50 head, 66 to 69 lbs., 139.00 to 140.00 (139.64); 17 head, 75 lbs., 138.00; 81 to 88 lbs., 130.50 to 135.75 (134.28); 17 head, 96 lbs., 126.00; 101 to 109 lbs., 118.00 to 125.00 (122.93); 110 to 114 lbs., 116.75 to 120.00 (118.15). Medium frame 1 and 2, 13 head, 71 lbs., 105.00.

Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice Yield grade 2 to 3, 52 head, 120 to 148 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00. Choice end Prime, Yield grade 2 to 4, 43 head, 162 lbs., 96.50.

Slaughter ewes: Wooled, 18 head, Good Yield grade 2 to 3, 171 lbs., , 60.25; 31 head, Good, Yield grade 3 to 4, 224 lbs., 57.00; 15 head, Good and Utility, Yield grade 2 to 3, 145 lbs., 60.50; 15 head, Cull, Yield grade 1 to 2, 132 lbs., 52.50.

Replacement ewes: Medium and large frame 1, whiteface, 12 head, 3 years old to solid, bred whiteface Feb. 1, 140.00 per head. Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 3 years to solid, exposed whiteface, 137.50 per head.

Aged bucks: 66 head, fleshy, 250 to 260 lbs., 38.00 to 40.25; 6 head, medium, 231 lbs., 25.00.
